Summer Camp provides
a combination of traditional camp activities
(archery, horsemanship, etc) and wilderness
tripping.
Outpost is a wilderness
based program. Trips happen throughout
northern North America and last from 15
to 55 days. Minimum staff certifications
are Wilderness First Responder and Lifeguard
or Wilderness Water Safety. Camp Manito-wish
YMCA can help you obtain these certifications.

Leadership is both a program
and a program philosophy. It operates primarily
during the school year. However, there
are a few programs that it runs in cooperation
with Summer Camp and Outpost. Leadership
also provides program options to these
two other departments.
Food Service/Kitchen provide
the fuel for all the fun and growth at
Manito-wish. |

At Manito-wish our program staff members
focus solely on their program are and our
counselors focus on their cabin groups.
Lifeguard, Standard First Aid, and CPR
certifications are required for a Cabin
Counselor position. Standard First Aid
and CPR certifications are required for
Program Staff.
Cabin Counselors (minimum
age 19) supervise one cabin group throughout
the session. They reside in cabins, participate
in all activities along with the campers,
and lead them on their wilderness trail
experiences.
Tripping Assistants (minimum
age 18) participate as an assistant leader
on the wilderness trips.
Assistant Counselors (minimum
age 18) live in the cabin with campers
and assume responsibility for the cabin
group when the cabin counselor is on trail.
Program Staff (minimum
age 19) members have expertise in their
program area and are hired to lead activities
and teach skills. Program areas include:
music, tennis, sailing, canoeing & kayaking,
waterfront, crafts, woodworking, horseback
riding, nature, riflery, archery, trail
biking, challenge course, and the trips
house (where campers equip themselves for
their wilderness trips.) The Trips Director
manages daily operation of the tripping
component of the Summer Camp Program.
Sectionals (minimum age
21) supervise the counseling staff in a
group of 5 to 6 cabins. |

You must be 21 to work in these positions
with the exception of Voyageur trip leaders
who may be 20.
The Outpost Director (minimum
age 21) manages daily operations of the
Outpost Program. Assistant Director position
also available.
Trip Leaders lead our
extended wilderness trips for teens. Outpost
trips are backpack, canoe, or sea kayak
trips.
Trips Logistical Assistants,
in addition to supporting trips, may be
asked to provide coverage for program areas,
cabins and camp transportation needs. |

Facilitators (minimum
age 20) for Leadership Program groups throughout
the fall, winter and spring.
The Challenge Course Director (minimum
age 21) works from early April into November.
This person manages the use of the challenge
courses (high and low) during this time. |

All kitchen employment require that employees
be at least 16 years old.
**If you are under the age of 18, you
must live off site.
In addition to kitchen positions such
as baking, cooking and dishwashing, the
position of Mr./Mrs. Nash coordinates
the preparation of Nash Dining Hall before
each meal and cleanup following each
meal. |
