Wilderness Trips

What is “trail”?

Every camper participates in a trail experience. Campers gain real self-confidence, learn to take initiative, create lasting relationships, and work together as a group. Younger age, or first-time campers are taught the basics in wilderness travel through canoeing some of the hundreds of lakes and rivers of the Northwoods, all of which are accessible right from our waterfront steps. As campers get older, trips increase in distance and days on trail.

We’re located in the heart of some of the largest chains of lakes in the world, you couldn’t choose a better place to paddle.

The standard Summer Camp trail experience is a canoe trip. However, campers entering 8th grade may choose the option of backpacking in the Porcupine Mountain State Park. Campers entering 9th or 10th grade may choose the option of Porcupine Mountain backpacking, or sea kayaking in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Lake Superior.

Still want more trail? As campers reach high-school they begin their progression to the Outpost program.
