Camp Manito-wish is located on over 300
wooded acres on 2.5 miles of Boulder
Lake shoreline. Boulder Lake is
a beautiful Northern Wisconsin lake through
which the Manitowish River flows. The property
is adjacent to several hundred acres of
state land, providing great trails for
hiking, horseback riding, skiing, and snowshoeing. |
 |
The Manito-wish property is anchored by Nash Lodge. "Nash" as it is known, was built in 1925 and is admired for its large stone fireplaces and architecture. From the fall of 2007 to spring of 2009, Nash underwent a complete renovation and restoration. It is the dining hall and gathering place for Camp Manito-wish from May to October. The Trading Post is also part of this amazing historical building. |
 |
Wones Pinewoods Chapel is
a peaceful setting among the tall pines
of Manito-wish. Chapel services are held
here during the summer camp season and
it continues to be a place for reflection
throughout the year. The Chapel features
a fieldstone altar and several benches
anchored by stone supports. Whether breezy
or calm, you can always hear the whispering
of the wind through the pines. |

|
Camper cabins are located
to the north and south of Nash Lodge. Each
cabin is unique. |
|
All cabins have stone fireplaces or woodstoves.
Most of the cabins have separate living
area and bunk room. Cabins house twelve
people. A few of the cabins are "double
cabins" meaning there are two bunk
rooms and a shared living area.
|

 |
Camper cabins are served by recently
built washhouses providing
clean showering and washing facilities. |
 |
The Health Center is
located between the north and south cabin
area and offers several individual rooms
if participants need rest during the summer
programs. |
 |
Hamilton Lodge houses
a stage for camp shows and other entertainment.
The trail biking program area of summer
camp is also based here. In addition, Hamilton
offers space for indoor activities during
inclement weather. |
 |
The Boyce Administration Center is
home to the administrative staff and program
offices of all Manito-wish programs. |
 |
The Manito-wish Leadership Center is
the site of our Leadership programs and
Outpost. This beautiful log building features
an indoor climbing wall, meeting space,
a library, classrooms and three massive
fieldstone fireplaces. The "MLC" serves
as the dining hall during the fall, winter
and spring seasons. |
 |
The Smith Leadership Village features
four leadership cabins. The cabins feature
two bunk rooms sleeping twelve people each,
two large bathrooms each with multiple
sinks and showers, a large full kitchen,
and a spacious living room area. These
cabins are used on a year-round basis. |
 |
The Lang Challenge Course features
high and low challenge and ropes courses.
Elements include, the ladder, the flying
squirrel, a zipline through the pines and
more. Every year the course is inspected
by an Association for Challenge Course
Technology approved vendor. |
 |
The rustic Voyageur Tent Site is
a key part of our Outpost Voyageur program.
The platform tents house bunks and a heating
stove. This site is also used during our
Leadership Programs. |
Other Facility Features
In addition to the specific buildings listed
above the Camp Manito-wish YMCA facility also
includes:
|
The Craft Shop is where
the "crafties" create, work and
play! This building is used during our
summer program. |
 |
The Trips/Boat House where
the summer camp trips pack their gear,
plan routes, and are fitted with canoe
paddles and personal floatation devices
(PFDs). This is also where the trips plan
their routes. The lower level of the building
stores PFDs, sea kayaks, and our fleet
of wood and canvas canoes. |
 |
We also have a large horse pasture
and stable for our summer program. |
 |
The Nature Center and Sail Shack (or
affectionately called the Manito-wish Yacht
Club). The upper level is the Nature Center
where our summer camp Nature program is
based. The lower level is home to our sailing
program. |
|
Our four tennis courts allow
you to play surrounded by the beauty of
the nearby woodss. |
|
From the courts, you can walk down the
trail to our Archery Range and
Riflery Range. |
